Children in Jail

In 1912, a Clark County deputy sheriff removed 3 children from the home of Issac Rotoroff because the family could not afford to adequately support them. Clark County Juvenile Court assigned the children to the orphanage. Before placement in the orphanage, the young Rotoroffs were held at the county jail, near the old Clark County courthouse, pictured here. A mid century modern city-county building now stands on Court Avenue in the place of the old structure.
