Upon turning 18, Charles Duffy O’Neill registered for the draft. His draft card reveals much. The address he provides, “c/o Stanton Sievers” in Vincennes, Knox County, Indiana, belongs to a Knox County farmer. Wards of St. Vincent’s of Vincennes at that time still could expect to live with and work for a local family while attending school. Charles also lists an address for his father, who is evidently no longer in jail.
