Poisoning

Like many 19th century local newspapers, Jeffersonville’s papers often offered salacious details about residents’ medical and psychological issues. Here, the Jeffersonville Evening News of March 30, 1898, speculates that marital troubles induced Frank Moore to attempt suicide by swallowing strychnine. Moore survived. According to the article, the young couple lived with Frank’s stepfather.
