Not far from the St. Joe Inn stands St. Joseph Catholic Church, for which the community of St. Joseph is named. It is nicknamed “St. Joe in the County” or “St. Joe County” because of the multiple St. Joseph Catholic Churches in the Diocese. The church was founded in 1841 to serve the surrounding German Catholic immigrant community.
