Bloomington's Indiana Theatre, now known as the Buskirk-Chumley Theatre, was built in 1922. By the late 1920s, Americans were buying 95 million movie tickets each week. Rich or poor, young or old, for the price of admission anyone could dream of a better life while at the movies. In the 1920's Hoagy Carmichael and his band “Carmichael’s Collegians” played at the Indiana Theater, providing live music between the films.
