Pittsburgh Plate Glass was still making glass in Kokomo at the time of this photograph, but discontinued those operations in 1930. This image was made during a 1920 expansion, when PPG was the community’s largest employer. A series of fires that began shortly after Diamond Plate Glass opened, followed by PPG construction, gradually removed all traces of the original 1889 factory.
